The Fleurotica annual floral fashion show is brought to you by the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance. The Garfield Park Conservatory inspires, educates and provokes exploration through innovative programs and experiences. Fleurotica is our chance to amaze you with the extraordinary visions of Chicago’s amazing floral designers.
The formation of the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance illustrates the strong fundamental connection between Chicagoans and nature. Following a devastating cold spell in the winter of 1994 which injured a significant portion of the aroid collection, the Chicago Park District convened a task force of representatives from various community, education, and environmental organizations. For six months, eighty individuals participated in the development of a plan to revitalize the Conservatory through new programs, visitor services, marketing and fundraising. These activities would be carried out by a newly formed Alliance, a partnership of organizations which included the Chicago Park District, Friends of the Parks, and area schools, museums, conservation organizations and community groups. The plan was subsequently funded by Lila-Wallace Reader's Digest Fund's Urban Parks Initiative which awarded a $1.46 million challenge grant.
After the formation of the Alliance, Chicago again came together to preserve the Conservatory following a catastrophic hail storm in 2011. Today, with the glass roof under restoration, the Conservatory expects to host a celebration in 2015 when the glass roof repairs will be completed. Open throughout the construction effort, the Conservatory is open 365 days each year. Fleurotica, our largest fundraising event of the year, helps ensure that all visitors are inspired by their time at the Conservatory.
The Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance is a member and donor supported project. Support for the Alliance makes the broad programming at the Conservatory possible. Here are some ways you can get involved:
Make a contribution that supports our programs. These programs give kids and adults unique experiences experiences with nature. Ask if your company has a matching gift program. This is an easy way to increase the impact of a gift. Become a member of the Conservatory and get special invitations to events and exhibit previews.
Become a volunteer. The Garfield Park Conservatory is one of the most interesting and beautiful places in Chicago to volunteer. It's like a trip to the tropics everyday!

The Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago, Illinois, is one of the largest and most stunning conservatories in the nation. Often referred to as "landscape art under glass," the Conservatory occupies approximately 4.5 acres inside and out, and includes cold frames and propagating where thousands of plants are grown each year. Plan your next outing to visit one of the nation's premier conservatories — six multi-faceted greenhouses and two grand exhibition halls. Or for that special occasion — weddings, reunions, meetings — rent one or all of our rooms.
